Motorcycle rider dead after two car crashes at Mornington in Melbournes southeast

A motorcycle rider has died after being hit by a car as he lay injured following second separate crash in Melbourne’s southeast overnight.

Police believe a car and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Orchid Ave and Wilsons Rd in Mornington shortly before 9pm on Friday.

A separate vehicle is then believed to have crashed into the rider of the motorcycle as he lay on the road with critical injuries, before paramedics arrived.

Emergency services rushed to treat the male rider, who is yet to be formally identified.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the first car and male driver of the second both stopped at the scene.

In a statement, Victoria Police said were are working to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

The crash comes only hours after a motorcyclist was killed in an unrelated crash outside Brisbane Airport.

The male rider was killed when a prime mover truck allegedly struck him outside the busy terminal.
