and Tay Melo are no longer the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions.

After failing to appear at AAA’s Night of Champions event on December 28, Konnan announced that the duo were being stripped of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship. Guevara and Melo were scheduled to defend in a three-way against Lady Shani & Octagon Jr. and Komander & Sexy Star II. Ultimately, Flammer and Abismo Negro Jr. replaced Guevara and Melo, and went on to capture the vacant titles.

Melo was featured on the December 28 episode of AEW Dynamite where she was victorious in a women’s division tag team match; she and Anna Jay A.S. defeated Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale. Meanwhile, Guevara was absent from the program. The AEW couple had reigned as AAA titleholders since April 30, when they beat Arez and Chik Tormenta at Triplemanía XXX: Monterrey. They defended the titles twice on AEW programming; most recently, they retained the gold against Soho and Ortiz on the Zero Hour pre-show ahead of AEW All Out.
