Selena Gomez and the stars of 13 Reasons Why will forever hold a piece of the series close to them.

Gomez, who executive produced the book-turned-show everyone is raving about, took to social media on Sunday to reveal that her and co-stars Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman got themselves some fresh ink. The three received subtle black semicolons on their forearms, symbolizing mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

“Wish the rest of the crew was with us today,” she captioned a photo on Instagram. “Overwhelmed with the response and love @13reasonswhy is receiving. Thank you to each beautiful person who has watched and talked about the message of our show.”

The Netflix original focuses on the suicide of Hannah Baker. The teenager leaves 13 different tapes for her former classmates, revealing her decision to take her own life. The series covers numerous heavy subjects occurring throughout her high school such as bullying, drug-use, rape and violence.

Alisha Boe, who portrays Jessica Davis, one of the names on the tapes that is held accountable for ending Baker’s life, also shared a photo of the tattoos herself with an explanative caption.

“I have received so much love and support from all of you who are watching 13 Reasons Why,” she wrote. Today- Tommy, Selena and I got tattoos of a semicolon. Project semicolon is a movement dedicated to presenting hope for those suffering from depression, thoughts of suicide, addiction, and self-injury. Those of you watching 13 Reasons Why and identify with Hannah Baker, please check out Beyond The Reasons on Netflix, or check out the link in my bio. Love you all.”

Beyond The Reasons is a documentary with the cast, producers and mental health professionals who discuss the everyday, challenging issues brought to life during the series. Prior to its release, Gomez revealed why being part of 13 Reasons Why was a “passion project” for her.

“I think the message, how I felt when I first read the book, I felt like Hannah. And now, seven years later, I still felt like Hannah even more than I ever did. So, I think the message and people, no matter what age you are, can relate to the story,” the “Good For You” songstress told reporters during the 13 Reasons Why premiere. “Everybody has gone through this. And more than ever, it should be talked about today.”
